Lake Tahoe Altitude Diving Specialty Course

Jul 21, 2018
Jul 22, 2018

Join Wallin's Dive Center for camping and diving at Meeks Bay Resort on July 20th and 21st, 2018. Included are 2 nights camping (Friday and Saturday night,) an academics session, and two training dives in Lake Tahoe. Upon completion of the training dives, participants will receive a PADI Altitude Diving Specialty Course certification card. Advanced Open Water Manual is included in course price if students don't already have it. Students must complete the Altitude Diving Knowledge review in the manual  before the dive day.

Gear is not included but available at a student discount of $75. (Normally $110)

Lake Tahoe is cold water diving. It can be completed in the same wetsuit as one would dive in Monterey. Drysuits are also popular.  Surface temps can be up to 75° in the summer, but don't let that fool you. Lake Tahoe has incredible thermoclines. At depth the water will be easily as cold as Monterey, or colder.

Divers must arrive no later than Friday afternoon for Saturday diving in order to acclimate to altitude.

Since there is no way out of Lake Tahoe without crossing a pass, flying after diving rules apply. Students are prohibited from leaving the valley for a minimum of 18 hours (multiple dives) or 12 hours (single dive), or as long as your computer tells you, after their last dive.

Channel Islands 2-day Discovery Dives

Oct 19, 2018
Oct 20, 2018

Join us on Truth Aquatics MV Conception for two full days of diving the Northern Channel Islands! These waters teem with life due to the cold, nutrient-rich waters, making every dive a new experience and ideal for lobster hunters and photographers alike. Dive locations vary from hundred-foot-tall walls and enormous pinnacles to kelp forests and rocky reefs. The crew aims to start at San Miguel Island and work its way down to Santa Rosa then Santa Cruz. We aim for 3-4 dives the first day and 3 dives on the last day, with the opportunity for a night dive each night (weather permitting).

2-Day Discovery dives to the Northern Channel Islands are geared toward skill levels ranging from newly certified divers to intermediate level divers and is also recommended for divers looking to get back into the water after a break from diving. Dives will take place in locations with less challenging conditions that allow for a fun, relaxing experience and to hone your dive skills. The dive sites are typically more sheltered and under 50 feet in depth. If you are ready for a less rigorous but adventurous getaway, this is a great trip for you. It's like diving Monterey, but clearer and warmer!

Boarding is between 8pm and 1am Thursday night. Boat leaves 1am and returns Saturday evening around 6pm. All meals included.
