PADI Open Water Scuba Certification
If you're interested in scuba diving lessons on the San Francisco peninsula, you found the right place. As an Authorized PADI Dive Center, this certification means we stand out for training divers from beginners to the professional level. Wouldn't you want to learn to dive from seasoned professionals? At Wallin's Dive Center, we've been giving scuba lessons for more than 50 years!
Steps to Scuba Certification
1. Open Water Academics
You can complete the academics either online (via PADI eLearning) or in the traditional format by independent study with the PADI Open Water workbook and DVD. PADI's Online Training program (PADI eLearning) is designed so that you can complete the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. If you choose the book/DVD option, you must visit the store prior to the scheduled pool session have your homework checked and quizzes administered by one of our PADI instructors. This will take about 2 hours. ELearners (i.e. online) complete all their quizzes online.
2. Pool Training
Once you complete your academics you can begin your pool training in our on-site heated pool. Your instructor will put into practice the techniques you learned in the academics program. Your training dives will be logged and approved by your instructor before you move on to open water. Your tuition includes all the major pieces of scuba gear for the pool session. You only need your personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, booties, and if you do your checkout dives in Monterey, you will also need gloves). Once you complete the pool training, you have the option to do the "check out" open water dives with us in Monterey or in a tropical destination of your choice. The latter is called an "open water referral" and since we are PADI, every dive shop in the world will accept our referral paperwork without question or confusion.
3. Open Water Training
Get ready to experience everything you've learned with the freedom of open water! As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be a certified diver. The four checkout dives are typically conducted over two weekend days in beautiful Monterey, California. PADI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless!
